1/27/10 - Connecticut Children's Hires Two New Physicians
Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is proud to announce the appointments of two new physicians to its Division of Endocrinology/Diabetes, and Pulmonary Medicine.
Cem Demirci, MD, FAAP, has joined Connecticut Children’s Division of Endocrinology/Diabetes. Dr. Demirci comes to Connecticut Children’s from Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he recently completed his fellowship in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes.
Dr. Demirci also served as an attending physician in the Department of Pediatrics at Hurley Medical Center and Michigan State University. He received his medical degree from the University of Istanbul Medical School in Cerrahpasa, Turkey. Dr. Demirci completed a research fellowship in the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and completed his pediatric residency at Michigan State University, Hurley Medical Center. Dr. Demirci is board-certified in pediatrics.
Umit Emre, MD, FAAP, recently joined Connecticut Children’s Division of Pulmonary Medicine. Dr. Emre comes to Connecticut Children’s from the Department of Pediatric Pulmonology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY, where she was an attending pediatrician and Associate Professor of Pediatrics.
Dr. Emre received her medical degree from the University of Istanbul School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency and fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Emre is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology. Dr. Emre is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Thoracic Society and the Association of Pediatric Program Directors.
In addition to treating patients at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, specialists from the Division of Pulmonary Medicine also treat patients at the medical center’s specialty care centers in Shelton, Farmington, Glastonbury and New Britain.
